What is Delta 8 THC?

The active ingredient in marijuana is delta 9 THC. Delta 8 has a slightly different chemical structure but maintains many of the same benefits. This cannabinoid was discovered in 1974 but didn’t become popular until 2017. Today it’s one of the most popular cannabinoids on the market — it’s the end product of nearly 25% of the hemp biomass currently produced in the United States.

The concentration of this naturally occurring cannabinoid is less than 1% in mature cannabis plants, so most researchers looked the other way. More recently, the sphere of research around delta 8 has grown substantially.

We now know delta 8 THC brings a new set of benefits to the table and offers cannabis users a new option when THC doesn’t work for them.

Differences in Effect Profiles

Delta 8 has a much more mellow, relaxing impact than delta 9 THC. People who find THC products make them feel agitated often turn to D8 THC as a much more enjoyable option.

Made From Industrial-Grade Hemp

According to federal law, only delta 8 products made from the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa L.) are considered legal. These products must contain below the threshold of 0.3% delta 9 THC (by dried weight).

Delta 8 THC FAQs

Will Delta 8 THC Make Me High?

Yes. Delta 8 is psychoactive, but only about 50% as much as delta 9 THC. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery when using delta 8 products, and start with a low dose when trying it for the first time.

Is Delta 8 THC Legal?

Delta 8 THC is technically legal in the United States. As per the 2018 Farm Bill, any hemp-derived products that maintain less than the legal threshold of 0.3% delta 9 THC is considered federally legal without the need for a medical license.

Most states adhere to these guidelines, but there are a few that have decided to ban all forms of THC — including delta 8.

Currently, we’re able to ship delta 8 THC products to all but the following states: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, Rhode Island, Utah, & Vermont.

These laws change constantly, so please make sure to check your local state laws before you order. We reserve the right to refund and withhold orders if laws become unfavorable for a given state.

What Does Delta 8 THC Feel Like?

Delta 8 is best described as a combination between CBD and THC. It produces feelings of inner peace and connectedness, improves focus and concentration, and gives the body an opportunity to relax and unwind.

The perceptual changes are comparable to delta 9 THC — changing the interpretation of sensory information like sight, touch, taste, and sound.

Will Delta 8 THC Make Me Fail A Drug Test?

Yes. Most drug tests aren’t sensitive enough to differentiate between separate isomers of THC. This means that even if you live in a state where delta 8 THC is legal, you should avoid using these products within three weeks prior to a scheduled drug test.

How Much Delta 8 THC Should I Use?

The optimal dose of delta 8 THC depends on several factors, including your age, weight, tolerance, and method of administration.

In general, we suggest a good starting dose is around 10–15 mg of delta 8 THC. This works out to half a gummy, 1 mL of tincture, or 3–4 puffs from our vape cartridges.

Once you’re familiar with how your body responds to delta 8, you can increase the dose to achieve the desired effects.
